Explain How Your Curriculum Works

The curriculum is more than just theory, it's an experiental tool.  Each lesson provides application  activities for every step to start a business.

For instance, at the end of Lesson 3 - the student will have determine what they are working toward (i.e. $300 for summer camp); completed a purchase order and a prospect list, determined their sales price, named and designed a coffee label, make cold phone calls and had their first sales presentation.  At the end of Lessons 4 through 7 the student will have completed an income statement, personal budget sheet, conducted a questionnaire, learned general business operations, sought avenues of publicity and administered customer service techniques.

We recommend that students establish their new coffee business with people who already purchase coffee on a regular basis.  The goal is to maintain a business for at least a year.  However, it is truly the student's decision how long their business should run.

The coffee is a high-quality coffee that comes from Arabica beans grown on the hills of Colombia.  It comes fresh from the roaster once a month and wholesales to students for $5.00 a pound.

What is the recommended age?

The curriculum is recommended for children Grade 3 and up adapting various aspects to ensure the best results for each student's ability.

How much time commitment?

Seven easy-to-follow scripted lessons come with supplemental activities and forms to support the business.  Most lessons can be taught in less than one hour.  Older students can easily teach themselves.
